About this policy
This Acceptable Use Policy forms part of our Terms of Service. It applies to every account and to everyone who uses Monty on a business’s behalf, including owners, managers, staff and partners. If you break it, we may take the action described below.
Reviews
You must follow our Review Policy. In short, you must not use Monty to:
- ask only the guests you expect to be happy, or discourage negative reviews;
- offer anything in return for a review or a rating;
- create, buy or post fake reviews, or reviews by anyone connected to your business;
- present reviews in a misleading way.
Messaging guests and staff
You must not use Monty to send:
- marketing to people who have not agreed to receive it, where the law requires their consent;
- spam, or bulk messages to lists you have bought, rented or scraped;
- messages that hide who they are from, or that don’t let people unsubscribe from marketing;
- WhatsApp messages that break WhatsApp’s Business and Commerce policies.
Alerts and service messages to your own staff are fine, as long as you have their contact details lawfully.
Content
You must not use Monty to create, upload, send or publish content that:
- is unlawful, false, misleading or defamatory;
- is abusive, threatening, harassing or discriminatory, including in replies to reviews;
- reveals someone’s personal information without a lawful reason, for example a guest’s details in a public reply;
- infringes someone else’s intellectual property, such as a logo or photo you don’t have the right to use.
Personal data
You must only put personal data into Monty that you are allowed to, and use it only for the purposes you told people about. You must not use Monty to collect special category data, such as health information, without a lawful basis, or to collect information from children in a way the law doesn’t allow.
Security and misuse
You must not:
- try to access accounts, data or systems you are not authorised to access;
- share sign-in links or log-in details, or let someone use an account that isn’t theirs;
- probe, scan or test the security of Monty without our written permission;
- interfere with or overload the service, or introduce malicious code;
- copy, scrape, reverse engineer or resell Monty, or use it to build a competing product;
- use automated means to access Monty other than through features and APIs we provide.
AI features
You must not use Monty’s AI features to create content that breaks this policy, to impersonate a real person, or to produce reviews or testimonials.
What happens if this policy is broken
Depending on how serious it is, we may warn you, remove content, disable a feature, suspend your account or close it, as set out in our Terms of Service. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you first and give you a chance to put things right. We may also report unlawful activity to the relevant authorities.
Reporting misuse
