About this notice
Venues such as restaurants, hotels, bars and cafés use Monty to ask guests how their visit went. When you use one of these pages, the venue is responsible for your information: it is the “controller”. Monty collects and stores the information for the venue, on its instructions, as its “processor”. The venue’s own privacy notice also applies.
Monty is provided by [company name], a company registered in England and Wales under company number [company number], whose registered office is at [registered office address].
What is collected
- Your feedback: your rating, your comments and any photos you add.
- Your contact details, if you give them: your email address or phone number, and your name if you report a problem, so the venue can get back to you.
- Details of any problem you report, and how the venue dealt with it.
- Mailing list: if you choose to join the venue’s list, your email address and your agreement.
- Technical information: the language you choose, which is remembered in your browser, the card or code you used, and how you use the pages, such as pages viewed and taps.
How it is used
- to pass your feedback to the venue, and to alert the right member of its team if something needs fixing;
- to let the venue contact you about a problem you reported;
- to send you the venue’s emails, if you joined its mailing list;
- to help the venue understand what guests like and what to improve, including with summaries and sentiment scores produced by AI;
- to keep the pages working, secure and improving.
If you leave a public review on a site such as Google or Tripadvisor, that review is published by that site under its own terms and privacy policy.
Who can see it
Your information is shared with the venue, and with the companies that help Monty run the service, such as hosting, email, messaging, payment and AI providers, listed on our Sub-processors page. Staff may see feedback that mentions them or came through their card or code. Your information is not sold.
How long it is kept
Your information is kept for as long as the venue uses Monty and needs it, and is deleted when the venue asks or when it stops using Monty, as set out in our Data Processing Agreement. Mailing list details are kept until you unsubscribe.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, object to how it is used, or unsubscribe from marketing at any time using the link in any email. Because the venue is responsible for your information, contact the venue first. You can also email Monty at help@monty.reviews, and we will pass your request to the venue and help it respond.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
