Where Monty is different

A review page guests open at the table

Monty is built around the moment a guest is still with you. They scan a QR code on a table card, poster, room card or sticker and land on your branded review page, available in 31 languages, with no app or login. It's a ready-made page, not a survey you build from scratch: you write the headline, questions and fields, and you can A/B test the headline. Every guest is shown a link to post a public review on Google, Tripadvisor, Trustpilot, Facebook or LINE. A guest who rates below your star threshold sees a private feedback form first, with that link still on it. Medallia can reach guests on site too, with survey QR codes on flyers and posters (survey QR codes), and it asks for reviews inside its surveys (Medallia Social), which suits a business that already surveys its guests.

Problems reach the right person quickly

A low rating or an issue a guest reports becomes an SOS alert, sent by email, WhatsApp, Telegram or inside Monty, and routed by person, role or area. If nobody acknowledges it within two hours, it escalates, and each issue becomes a numbered case you can track. SOS alerts come with every plan, Essentials included. Medallia also sends real-time alerts for service recovery (travel and hospitality), tracks cases to close (pricing), and puts alerts in front of staff in its Medallia Mobile app (mobile). With Monty, a manager can get the alert in WhatsApp or Telegram without adding another app.

Reply drafts in your chosen tone, and your Google Maps ranking

On Premium and above, the review inbox collects your Google, Tripadvisor and Trustpilot reviews every day and drafts a reply to each in the tone you choose, from 11. Someone on your team checks it, then copies and posts it. Premium also adds sentiment and topics, a 12-week rating forecast and a weekly AI-written report by email, in 15 languages. Medallia lets staff reply from inside its platform using templates (Medallia Social), and its Smart Response feature drafts replies to feedback records, which staff confirm before anything is sent (announcement, walkthrough). From Essentials up, Monty also maps where you appear in Google Maps results on a 7x7 grid, scanned weekly, as part of its SEO and GEO tools.

Month-to-month plans

Monty has three plans per venue, set by how many reviews you collect each month: Essentials (75), Premium (100) and Premium Plus (unlimited). Plans run month to month, and you can ask for a price on the pricing page or in a demo. Essentials covers the review page, QR codes, SOS alerts, guest issues and the Google Maps rank map; the review inbox and AI replies, sentiment and topics, the weekly report and guest follow-up start at Premium; webhooks come with every plan. Groups pay one price for the whole group on one invoice, and a new venue gets 10 free reviews to try it. Medallia doesn't publish its prices. It sells through its sales team, in annual tiers based on Experience Data Records, with unlimited users included (Medallia pricing).

Where Medallia may suit you better

  • You run a large brand or a big estate. Medallia serves some of the biggest names in hospitality: Marriott, a company with 30 brands and more than 7,000 properties in 130 countries and territories, has run its guestVoice programme on Medallia since 2014 (Marriott). Every licence includes unlimited users (pricing).
  • You want surveys and a wider customer-experience programme. Medallia runs email, web, mobile and voice surveys (signals) and analyses text in dozens of languages (text analytics). For hotels it also covers contact-centre analytics and employee experience (travel and hospitality). Gartner named it a Leader for Voice of the Customer platforms in 2026, for the fifth report in a row (press release). Monty has no survey builder.
  • You benchmark against competitors. Rival Intelligence compares your review scores with a list of rivals you choose, for one location or a whole brand (Medallia Social). Monty doesn't produce competitor benchmarking reports.
  • You need deep integrations, guest messaging or a mobile app. Medallia lists Salesforce, Workday, ServiceNow and Adobe among its integrations (integrations), offers two-way guest messaging by SMS, web chat and Facebook Messenger through Medallia Concierge (Concierge), and has a mobile app for frontline staff (mobile). Monty has no PMS or POS integrations, no SMS and no published mobile app, and it doesn't post review replies for you. If you need a PMS connection, ask Medallia which systems it supports.

Switching to Monty

  1. Check your Medallia renewal date. Medallia is priced in annual tiers (pricing), so plan the move around your contract. Monty plans run month to month.
  2. Try one venue first. A new venue gets 10 free reviews, so you can test the page with real guests before you commit.
  3. Set up your review page. Write the headline, questions and fields, choose the review sites guests are shown (Google, Tripadvisor, Trustpilot, Facebook or LINE), and set the star threshold below which guests see a private feedback form first.
  4. Put the QR codes out. Use table cards, posters, room cards, stickers or wallet review cards, wherever guests have a spare moment.
  5. Decide who hears about problems. Set SOS alert routing by person, role or area, and choose how alerts arrive: email, WhatsApp, Telegram or inside Monty.
  6. Pick a reply tone (Premium and above). Your Google, Tripadvisor and Trustpilot reviews then arrive in the review inbox each day with a drafted reply, ready for someone to check and post.
  7. Add the rest of the group. Add each venue, give people the owner, regional manager or location manager role, and move to one invoice, with a portfolio overview across every venue.
  8. Connect your own tools. If another system needs Monty's data, use the webhooks, which come with every plan. Software platforms can ask Monty for Partner API access.

Be clear about what Monty won't replace. If you rely on Medallia for guest surveys, SMS messaging or competitor benchmarking, you will need another tool for those.

The short version

Medallia is the stronger fit for a large hotel brand or enterprise that wants surveys, text analytics, competitor benchmarking and deep integrations in one customer-experience programme. Monty is the better fit for a restaurant, hotel, bar or café, or a group of them, that wants guests asked for a review while they're still there, problems sent to the right person straight away, and plans that run month to month.
