Monty is a guest feedback and review tool for restaurants, hotels, bars, cafés, hostels and groups of them. It is based in the UK and sells per venue on month-to-month plans. ReviewPro, which Shiji Group now sells as Reviewpro Reputation, is a reputation platform for hotels of every size, with guest surveys, case management and competitor benchmarking built in. This page calls it ReviewPro throughout, and compares the two as of September 2026 using each company's own website and documentation.
At a glance
| Monty | ReviewPro | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Venues and groups that want guests to leave feedback from a QR code while they are still there, and to be alerted when someone is unhappy | Hotels and hotel groups that want surveys, case management and competitor benchmarking in one platform |
| Venue types | Restaurants, hotels, bars, cafés, hostels and groups | Mainly hotels, from 10-room boutiques to multinational chains, plus resorts, bed and breakfasts and holiday rentals; its documentation also lists 14 restaurant review sites |
| Asking guests for feedback | A branded review page opened from QR codes on table cards, posters, stickers and review cards, or from a review card in Apple or Google Wallet; no app or login for guests; your own headline, questions and fields, with headline A/B tests | In-stay and post-stay surveys sent by email, WhatsApp, SMS and more, or opened from a QR code you make from the survey link (in-stay survey QR codes), with prompts to leave a public review |
| Unhappy guests | A guest who rates below your star threshold sees a private feedback form first, with a link to post a public review on it. Low ratings and reported issues become SOS alerts by email, WhatsApp, Telegram or in the app, escalated if nobody acknowledges them within two hours | Email alerts built on saved review filters, sent in real time or as a digest, and notifications in its mobile app; rules can open cases automatically, notify departments and escalate cases through custom escalation rules |
| Review sites monitored | Google, Tripadvisor and Trustpilot, fetched daily into the review inbox (Premium and up) | 55 hotel review sites and 14 restaurant sites named in its documentation, including Booking.com, Expedia, Google and Tripadvisor; Shiji's own pages give higher totals, from over 80 sources to over 140, the latter counting its own guest surveys |
| Replying to reviews | An AI-drafted reply for each review in one of 11 tones (Premium and up); a person copies and posts it, as Monty does not post replies itself | AI drafts that a person reviews and edits, switched on by contacting Shiji and counted against a plan limit; replies post directly to Booking.com, Google and HolidayCheck, and are copied and pasted for other sites |
| Guest surveys | Not offered: there is no pre-stay or post-stay survey builder | In-stay and post-stay surveys with NPS and results you can filter by room, stay length and loyalty level |
| Analytics and reports | A Google Maps rank map from Essentials up; sentiment across 8 topics, a weekly AI-written report email in 15 languages and a 12-week rating forecast on Premium and up | Analysis of over 700 concepts in 17 languages, plus its Global Review Index and Competitive Quality Index for benchmarking against competitors |
| Groups and multiple sites | Portfolio overview, three roles (owner, regional manager, location manager), SOS response times by venue, portfolio reports and one invoice | Benchmarking between properties in a group, with workgroups to manage access |
| Integrations | Webhooks with 7 events (every plan), and a Partner API for hospitality software platforms, with keys issued by Monty's team; no PMS or POS integrations | PMS connections in Shiji's integrations directory, including Daylight PMS, Infor HMS and RMS Cloud, plus case management links with Amadeus HotSOS and Flexkeeping |

Where Monty is different
- A QR code is all a guest needs. Guests scan a QR code on a table card, poster, sticker or review card and land on your branded review page, in any of 31 languages, with nothing to download and no login. You don't need a guest's email address or phone number in advance, which suits walk-in diners and bar customers as well as hotel guests. You write the headline, questions and fields, and you can A/B test the headline. ReviewPro also asks guests during their stay: it sends in-stay and post-stay surveys by email, WhatsApp, SMS and more, and its documentation explains how to put a survey link behind a QR code made with an outside QR generator.
- Alerts arrive on WhatsApp and Telegram too. A low rating or a reported issue becomes an SOS alert, sent by email, WhatsApp, Telegram or inside Monty and routed by person, role or area, on every plan including Essentials. Escalation is built in: an alert nobody acknowledges within two hours is escalated, and each guest issue becomes a numbered case. ReviewPro sends alerts by email or as notifications in its mobile app, and lets you set up your own escalation rules and paths for cases.
- Built for restaurants and bars as much as hotels. Your review page links guests to the public review site that matters most to you: Google, Tripadvisor, Trustpilot, Facebook or LINE. The review inbox (Premium and up) brings Google, Tripadvisor and Trustpilot reviews together. ReviewPro is built around hotels: its product page speaks to hoteliers, its FAQ lists hotels, resorts, bed and breakfasts and holiday rentals, and its surveys and integrations are built around hotel stays and PMS data. It does cover restaurants too. Its documentation lists 14 restaurant review sites, including OpenTable and TheFork, and in January 2026 Shiji announced a full rollout in Japan across hotels and restaurants. Trustpilot is not on either of its published source lists (hotels, restaurants).
- Plans run month to month. Monty has three plans per venue, set by how many reviews you collect each month: Essentials (75), Premium (100) and Premium Plus (unlimited). Essentials covers the review page, QR codes, SOS alerts, guest issues and the Google Maps rank map; the review inbox and AI replies, sentiment and topics, the weekly AI report, and guest follow-up start at Premium; webhooks come with every plan. Groups pay one price for the whole group on one invoice, and a new venue gets 10 free reviews before you pay. Shiji's general terms for ReviewPro say a contract renews automatically for the same period unless either side gives written notice at least 60 days before it ends.
Where ReviewPro may suit you better
- You want surveys driven by your PMS. According to Shiji's integrations directory, PMSs including Shiji's own Daylight PMS, Infor HMS and RMS Cloud pass guest or reservation data to ReviewPro so it can send guest satisfaction surveys. It runs in-stay and post-stay surveys with NPS and results you can filter by room, stay length or loyalty level. Monty has no PMS or POS integration and no survey builder.
- You need case management across departments. Rules can open cases automatically from feedback, alert the right department and escalate cases through custom workflows, and cases handled in Amadeus HotSOS or Flexkeeping can be tracked in ReviewPro. Monty turns guest issues into numbered cases with a fixed two-hour escalation, and its webhooks can send new issues and status changes to your own systems, but it has no ready-made connections to tools like these.
- Your reviews are spread across booking sites. ReviewPro's documentation lists 55 hotel review sources, from Booking.com and Expedia to HolidayCheck, Trip.com and Meituan, and replies post straight to Booking.com, Google and HolidayCheck. Monty's inbox covers Google, Tripadvisor and Trustpilot, and you post Monty's drafted replies yourself.
- You benchmark against a competitive set. ReviewPro's Global Review Index and Competitive Quality Index compare you with competitors and with other properties in your group, and Shiji says research with Cornell University and STR backs the Global Review Index. It also has a free iOS and Android app and 24/7 support. Monty does not produce competitor benchmarking reports and has no published mobile app.
Switching to Monty
- Check your ReviewPro contract. The specific terms in your own contract set its initial term, so start there. Shiji's general terms for ReviewPro say the contract then renews automatically for the same period unless either side gives written notice at least 60 days before it ends. The same terms say a client cannot end the agreement early, and that a client who stops using the service during a term still pays the price in its contract.
- Try Monty on one venue. New venues get 10 free reviews, so you can see the review page and alerts working with real guests before you choose a plan.
- Set up your review page. Add your headline, questions and fields, choose the public review site the page links to (Google, Tripadvisor, Trustpilot, Facebook or LINE), and set the star threshold below which guests see a private feedback form first.
- Put QR codes where guests are. Use table cards, posters, stickers and review cards, or review cards in Apple or Google Wallet, on tables, at the bar or in rooms.
- Decide who hears about problems. Set routing rules by person, role or area, and choose email, WhatsApp, Telegram or in-app alerts.
- Pick a reply tone (Premium and up). Your Google, Tripadvisor and Trustpilot reviews then arrive in one inbox each day, each with a drafted reply in one of 11 tones, ready for someone to check and post.
- Add the rest of the group. For several venues, invite regional and location managers, add each site, and have the group billed on one invoice at one custom price.
If you rely on ReviewPro's surveys, PMS-triggered feedback or competitor benchmarking, Monty will not replace those, so plan for them before you switch.
The short version
Choose ReviewPro if you run hotels and need guest surveys, PMS integration, case management and competitor benchmarking in one platform. Choose Monty if you run restaurants, bars, cafés, hotels or a mixed group and want guests to leave feedback from a QR code while they are still there, the right person alerted when someone is unhappy, and month-to-month plans per venue.
